Job Title: Network Engineer – Full-Fibre & Active Networks Location: Flexible (Manchester, London, Milton Keynes, Telford) Work Pattern: 2 office days per week (Tuesday/Thursday) Contract: 6-Month Contract Start Date: Immediate End Date: July 2025 (extension possible) Role Overview We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer with expertise in full-fibre (FTTx to cabinet) technologies and active network solutions. This hands-on role focuses on designing, testing, and implementing scalable solutions while troubleshooting complex networking issues. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and resolve issues in PON and active network systems. Design and deploy solutions, focusing on Nokia, Calix, and Adtran equipment. Act as a subject matter expert in GPON/XGS-PON technologies. Collaborate with IT Operations and design teams to optimize network architecture. Configure and manage networking hardware (e.g., Nokia, Juniper). Oversee multiple projects and ensure high-quality delivery. What You’ll Bring Expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, with a focus on GPON/XGS-PON. Experience with Nokia, Calix, and Adtran equipment in mixed vendor environments. Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on troubleshooting ability. Familiarity with networking security, automation, and technology migrations. Essential Skills and Experience Extensive background in full-fibre networks (FTTx, PON). Hands-on experience with Juniper routers (Cisco not essential but desirable).
