Role: Software Engineer
Salary: Up to £55k
Location: Newton Abbot (Hybrid)
Role Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software across embedded, desktop and web-based platforms.
- Build secure, reliable applications and services within Linux-based environments.
- Improve development processes, automation, testing and deployment practices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver integrated hardware and software solutions.
- Manage technical projects, document solutions and support the development of junior engineers.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years' relevant experience, including:
- Python, DjangoReactLinux development, administration and system security.
- Embedded C programming and hardware interfacing.
- Docker, Git, CI/CD and automated testing.
- Messaging and infrastructure technologies such as RabbitMQ, Redis and Apache.
- Networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, LDAP, SNMP and firewalls.
- Secure software development, vulnerability management and system hardening.
- Hardware fault-finding and technical troubleshooting.
Desirable Experience
- Embedded operating systems, particularly Zephyr and Yocto.
- Developing applications across Windows, Linux and macOS.
- Experience with electronics design and hardware production testing.
- Additional programming languages such as C++, C#, or Rust.
- Software security assessments and penetration testing.
