Location: On-site, Live Data Centre (Location flexible depending on site)

We are seeking a highly capable Data Centre Technician / Engineer to join a dedicated on-site team within a live, high-availability data centre environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of critical IT infrastructure including servers, network hardware, and related systems.

This role requires a hands-on, detail-oriented professional who can thrive in a fast-paced, mission-critical facility where uptime, safety, and efficiency are paramount.

Key Responsibilities
  • Racking & Stacking: Physical installation of servers, switches, routers, and other network hardware
  • Structured Cabling: Patch cabling, labelling, and port documentation
  • Break-Fix: Diagnosing and repairing faults with servers, power, cabling, or other infrastructure components
  • Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM): Executing scheduled maintenance tasks in line with data centre standards and client SLAs
  • Reactive Maintenance: Rapid response to on-site hardware failures, environmental issues, or alerts
  • Asset Management: Inventory control, decommissioning, documentation, and updating records
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensuring all work is carried out to the required health & safety and data security standards
  • Collaboration: Working closely with remote NOC teams, vendors, and clients to support deployments and resolve issues
Skills & Experience Required
  • Experience working in a live or hyperscale data centre environment
  • Proficient in hardware installation (Dell, HP, Cisco, Juniper, etc.)
  • Comfortable with rack elevations, patching schedules, and structured cabling standards
  • Experience with ticketing systems and maintaining accurate documentation
  • Strong understanding of basic networking and hardware troubleshooting
  • Excellent attention to detail and adherence to processes
  • Flexibility for shift-based or out-of-hours work (if required)
Desirable Certifications (Not Essential)
  • CompTIA Server+, Network+, or equivalent
  • CNCI/ECS Advanced Comms/Comms ECS
  • Data Centre Technician certifications (e.g. CDCTP)
  • Health & Safety or Electrical Awareness certifications
  • Manufacturer-specific hardware accreditations (Dell, Cisco, HP, etc.)
