A fast-scaling AI product company is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help build and scale a next-generation platform. This is a high-impact role within a small, ambitious engineering team, suited to someone who enjoys ownership and building robust systems from the ground up.
Salary: £90,000 - £100,000
Location: Hybrid in London office (1 day per week Max)
What you’ll be doing:
- Design and build scalable, production-grade backend systems
- Develop high-performance APIs and event-driven architectures
- Work with GraphQL and modern backend frameworks to power core product features
- Ensure reliability through monitoring, logging and resilient system design
- Collaborate closely with product, frontend and design teams to ship features end-to-end
- Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform scales
- Support AI and LLM-driven functionality within the product
What you’ll need:
- Strong commercial experience with NodeJS
- Experience with GraphQL, ideally within a structured backend framework
- Solid understanding of PostgreSQL and data modelling
- Strong system design skills and understanding of scalable architecture
- Experience building secure, enterprise-ready APIs
- Exposure to AI or LLM integrations
- Comfortable working in fast-moving, high-ownership environments
Nice to have:
- Experience with GCP
- Familiarity with infrastructure as code
- Background in a dev studio, product studio or agency environment
