A well-established ecommerce retailer is hiring a Senior Product Owner to own a key product vertical end to end and help raise the bar for Product Ownership across the wider Digital Product team. This is a dual-mandate role. You'll take full ownership of the Browse vertical, from customer problem through to measurable commercial outcome, while acting as a hands-on coach and role model for less experienced Product Owners as the business builds out its capability. It's central to a broader shift already underway, moving the organisation from project-based, waterfall delivery towards a genuine Product Operating Model.
Salary: £80,000
Location: Hereford, 2/3 days per week in office
What you'll be doing:
- Own the vision, roadmap and outcomes for the Browse vertical, tightly connected to wider digital product strategy and commercial goals.
- Make senior-level trade-off calls across a growing roadmap, balancing tactical fixes against strategic bets.
- Use discovery, A/B testing and qualitative and quantitative data to validate hypotheses and reduce delivery risk.
- Define what success looks like and track the commercial metrics that connect vertical performance to the wider North Star.
- Run backlog refinement, articulate requirements clearly, and keep the team focused against scope creep and competing demands.
- Define and embed lightweight, fit-for-purpose ceremonies, artefacts and standards in a business still maturing its agile practice.
- Coach and mentor junior and mid-level Product Owners across discovery, backlog management, stakeholder engagement and storytelling.
- Help establish and sustain a Product Owner community of practice, with shared tools, templates and playbooks.
- Act as a visible champion for the move to a Product Operating Model, bringing sceptical stakeholders along with you.
- Partner with UX/UI, engineering, ADLs, business analysts, data analysts and senior stakeholders to deliver against key OKRs.
- Manage and grow relationships with third-party partners.
