Digital Unity Hub, founded in October 2022, is a mission-driven initiative in Scotland, focused on addressing digital exclusion. We empower individuals through free workshops, training, and personalized support, helping them develop digital skills and confidence. Collaborating with partners such as Connecting Scotland, Mhor Collective, and Live Life Aberdeenshire, we create community-led solutions for a more inclusive digital society. Since our inception, we have supported over 460 individuals, including older adults, job seekers, veterans, and individuals facing social or geographic isolation. Our goal is to foster a connected society where everyone can thrive.
Role Description: This is an on-site full-time Trustee role located in Ellon, where the Legal Expert will play a crucial role in guiding Digital Unity Hub during its non-profit registration phase. The Trustee will provide legal advice regarding compliance and regulatory obligations, contribute to the strategic decisions of the organization, and review key operational and governance documents to align with legal standards. Additionally, they will collaborate with the board to ensure the organization adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and best practices while advancing its mission.
Qualifications:
- Strong background in legal expertise, with knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance for non-profit organizations
- Experience in drafting and reviewing legal documentation, contracts, and governance policies
- Strategic decision-making skills and the ability to provide clear legal advice to support organizational goals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex legal information to diverse stakeholders
- Prior experience volunteering or contributing to non-profit initiatives is an advantage
- Understanding of digital inclusion or social impact projects in Scotland is a plus
