Digital Tonic are delighted to be working with a highly successful, international eCommerce business as they look to appoint a Performance Marketing Director to lead their global acquisition strategy. This is a significant leadership role within an established, multi-brand consumer business, taking ownership of the strategy, commercial performance and continued development of its acquisition engine across Paid Search, SEO/AIO and Affiliates.
You’ll own the blended performance marketing P&L, setting investment priorities across channels, brands and international markets while ensuring acquisition activity delivers profitable, sustainable growth. This is a role for someone who is as comfortable discussing CAC, contribution and incrementality at leadership level as they are challenging channel strategy with their specialist teams.
You’ll also lead and develop established teams across SEA, SEO/AIO and Affiliates, creating clear commercial accountability and ensuring each channel is working towards the wider growth ambitions of the business. A major part of the role will be determining where and how acquisition investment should be deployed. You’ll monitor performance across markets, identify opportunities for growth, make recommendations around budget allocation and know when to scale, optimise or pull back investment based on commercial return.
You’ll work closely with Market Leads, CRM, Brand and onsite trading teams to ensure acquisition doesn’t operate in isolation, while also managing senior relationships with agencies, technology partners and platforms. This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of performance marketing within a sophisticated international eCommerce environment, with significant budgets, multiple markets and an established team beneath you.
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for an established acquisition leader with around 10+ years’ experience in performance or digital marketing, including significant experience operating at Head of or Director level within a sophisticated eCommerce or DTC environment. You’ll have owned substantial acquisition budgets and ideally a blended performance marketing P&L, with a strong understanding of the relationship between media investment, customer acquisition, revenue, margin and contribution.
You’ll need deep knowledge of Paid Search/SEA, alongside strong strategic understanding of SEO and Affiliates. You don’t need to be the person personally executing every campaign, but you should have enough channel depth to challenge specialists, assess performance and make confident investment decisions. Experience leading and developing high-performing channel teams is essential, as is a strong understanding of attribution, incrementality, CAC, ROAS/ROI and channel economics.
Given the scale of the business, we’d particularly like to speak with people who have worked across multiple international markets or brands, and who understands how acquisition strategy needs to flex according to market maturity and commercial opportunity. You’ll also be commercially minded, highly analytical and an excellent senior stakeholder manager, able to translate complex performance data into clear recommendations for leadership teams.
Benefits
This is a senior leadership role, and as such, the salary will be competitive dependent on experience. We’re looking for someone who can be in the office in Bath 3 days a week. The location of the office is very commutable from Bristol, London, Reading, Swindon and Somerset.
Sound Good?
If you’re currently leading acquisition or performance marketing for an eCommerce or DTC business and want a role where you’ll have genuine ownership of strategy, investment and commercial performance across multiple channels and markets, we’d love to hear from you.
