The Role

We're working with an established, independent digital agency in Bristol as they look to bring a technically oriented SEO Specialist on-board.

This is a genuinely technical, hands-on SEO position for someone who enjoys getting under the bonnet of websites, diagnosing complex issues and taking ownership of the technical work that underpins successful organic search campaigns.

Working closely with the Head of SEO, wider SEO team and an in-house developer, you'll take ownership of technical delivery across a varied portfolio of clients.

This will include everything from crawl and indexation issues, site architecture and structured data through to Core Web Vitals, migrations, Java Script rendering and tracking implementation.

You'll run comprehensive technical audits using tools such as Screaming Frog and Sitebulb, but importantly, you'll be expected to go beyond simply producing automated reports.

You'll investigate issues from first principles, understand what is actually affecting organic performance and prioritise recommendations based on commercial impact.

There is also a significant tracking and measurement element to the role.

You'll build and maintain Google Tag Manager containers, implement GA4 and Google Ads conversion tracking and troubleshoot issues such as tags not firing, duplicate events and incorrectly configured triggers.

You'll also take ownership of the technical SEO side of website migrations, including redirect mapping, staging checks, tracking continuity and post-launch monitoring, working directly with the agency's developer to ensure recommendations are implemented correctly.

Skills & Experience

Google Tag Manager is an essential requirement in order to be considered for this role. Alongside that, we are looking for:

  • 2-3+ years of hands-on technical SEO experience, ideally from an agency background
  • Strong practical experience with Screaming Frog
  • Experience using tools such as Sitebulb, Google Search Console, GA4 and tools such as Ahrefs or SEMrush.
  • Prior experience resolving technical SEO issues relating to crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking, structured data and Core Web Vitals.
  • A working knowledge of HTML and CSS is important, and you should be able to turn your findings into clear technical briefs that a developer can implement.
  • Experience planning and QAing website migrations would be highly beneficial, including redirect mapping, staging environments and post-launch monitoring.

Benefits

You'll receive a competitive salary based on your level of experience, alongside a profit-related bonus scheme and hybrid working, with three days per week in the Bristol office and two from home.

The agency offers early finishes on Fridays, a pension scheme, regular socials and team events.

You'll be joining a collaborative agency where you'll have plenty of ownership over your work while working closely with experienced SEO specialists and an in-house developer.
