We’re excited to be working with a specialist digital agency to recruit their new Head of SEO! This is a genuinely great time to join this agency, where you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of its organic search offering and drive measurable growth across both client accounts and internal brands. This is a senior, hands-on role that blends strategy, leadership and delivery.
You’ll be responsible for shaping SEO strategies that align directly with commercial objectives, overseeing performance across client accounts, and helping define the agency’s own organic growth strategy. Working closely with a small and collaborative team, you’ll play a key role in guiding SEO direction across the wider digital ecosystem, collaborating with specialists across web, PPC, digital PR and development to ensure organic search is embedded across the full marketing mix.
You’ll also contribute to new business activity, supporting proposals and pitches by carrying out SEO audits, defining strategies and clearly communicating the value of organic growth to prospective clients. Alongside client strategy, you’ll help guide the SEO roadmap for the agency’s own brands and digital projects, ensuring strong foundations across site structure, content strategy and technical performance.
In practice, the role will involve:
- Developing and leading SEO strategies aligned with client commercial objectives
- Owning SEO performance and organic growth across multiple accounts
- Collaborating with web and development teams to ensure technically sound and search-ready websites
- Overseeing content strategy and optimisation
- Using AI tools responsibly to improve efficiency within SEO processes
- Supporting SEO elements in new business pitches and proposals
- Identifying opportunities to expand SEO across the wider digital marketing mix
- Presenting strategy and results to clients
- Supporting the development of internal SEO capability

Skills and Experience
- Proven experience leading SEO strategy and delivering measurable organic growth
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to translate business goals into SEO strategy
- Solid understanding of the wider digital marketing ecosystem including web, PPC and digital PR
- Strong knowledge of WordPress websites, technical SEO and site structure
- Experience working with content optimisation and SEO-driven content strategies
- Understanding of how AI is influencing search behaviour and content production
- Comfortable presenting to clients and communicating complex strategies clearly
- Experience supporting new business activity, audits or pitch work
- Able to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
- Experience mentoring or developing more junior team members is advantageous
Depending on experience, there is a salary on offer of up to £60k, and a hybrid working pattern of 3 days a week in the office with 2 remote. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the SEO direction, working within a small collaborative team, for 2 Founders that have built an incredible agency with an excellent track record for client retention. Flexibility on the office days could be considered for an exceptional candidate. Due to the rural location of the office, access to a car/vehicle is essential!
