Accountant/Finance Process & Controls Consultant
Contract until 31st December 2026
Manchester (Hybrid) - 2 days per week onsite
Up to Β£56 per hour (Inside IR35) - Based on a 37.5-hour working week.

Digital Skills is partnering with a global technology company to hire an experienced Accountant/Finance Process & Controls Consultant for a critical transformation project within the finance function.

This is a hands-on project role focused on designing and implementing interim accounting processes, controls and reconciliation frameworks to support a new business initiative. You'll work closely with Accounting Controllers and key stakeholders to ensure the business is ready for go-live while maintaining strong financial control and audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review current accounting processes and identify gaps, risks and control requirements.
  • Design and implement practical interim finance processes and operating procedures.
  • Assess impacts on intercompany accounting, segment reporting and period-end activities.
  • Develop reconciliation frameworks, ownership models and escalation processes.
  • Create audit-ready process documentation, controls and work instructions.
  • Support go-live readiness activities and resolve implementation issues.
  • Collaborate with finance and non-finance stakeholders across the business.
  • Provide regular progress updates to senior finance leadership.

Essential Skills

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong financial controls and accounting process design experience.
  • Experience working within large, complex or multi-entity organisations.
  • Strong understanding of intercompany accounting and reporting.
  • Experience designing reconciliation processes and related controls.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and manage ambiguity.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong documentation skills with an audit-ready mindset.

Desirable Skills

  • Finance transformation or business integration experience.
  • Experience implementing manual processes ahead of automation.
  • Multinational or shared-services environment experience.
  • SAP and/or BlackLine experience.

About the Project

The role supports a new business initiative that requires the design and implementation of controlled interim accounting processes, including new intercompany accounting arrangements, reporting requirements and reconciliation procedures. Success will be measured by the delivery of a sustainable, audit-ready operating model that supports a successful go-live.

This role would suit a senior accountant with strong financial controls, process improvement and stakeholder management experience who enjoys working on change and transformation initiatives.
