This is a 5 - 6 months contract role.
We are looking for a great Fact-Checking Editor to work for a large, global business.
Responsibilities
- Support fact-checking projects while fostering a positive, collaborative and inclusive work environment
- Ensure that each copy meets my clients' standards for accuracy, speed, balance and clarity
- Meet my clients Fact Check deliverables outlined in our fact-checking partnerships and strengthen relationships with clients and partners
- Support fact-check article production and build closer ties with the broader my clients news file
- Collaborate with journalists across regional teams to deliver accurate verification notes and articles for clients and my clients audiences
- Explore the latest digital verification techniques and tools
- Enforce the editorial and ethical standards, adhering to style, guidelines and policies laid out by the Trust Principles and the Handbook of Journalists
- Produce fact-checking articles or explainers when required
About you
- Have at least 10 years of international news writing and/or editing experience
- Demonstrated experience editing under tight deadlines and sharing constructive feedback with journalists
- Strong reporting and writing skills and the ability to work independently
- Show a proven interest in covering U.S. and European politics and deep knowledge of misinformation trends
- Experience working in OSINT/fact-checking/misinformation/digital verification
- Show strong news judgment
- Be able to identify emerging trends and misinformation
- Proven ability to work nimbly and quickly with multiple teams
- Fluency in another language is a plus
