Digital Skills are working alongside a specialist AWS partner, working on high profile Government systems and programmes. The client is a deep level AWS specialist and is hiring for a highly skilled and experienced Principal AWS Platform Engineer.
About the Role
This role suits a senior consultant with a background in engineering. You will be shaping cloud strategy, setting engineering and security standards and will remain hands-on with complex AWS infrastructure. The role is not for an Architect; however, you will be experienced and take a keen interest in designing AWS platforms that are highly secure. You will design and implement platforms that are automated, built to scale and deliver cloud services across key government services.
Responsibilities
- You will take ownership of AWS platform design and continuous improvement, working across multi-account environments and enterprise-scale architectures.
- Define AWS platform architecture using modern Landing Zone patterns.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, and AWS CDK.
- Embed security into cloud platforms through native AWS services.
- Enable automated delivery through well-designed CI/CD pipelines.
- Design and support secure networking, IAM, KMS, and container-based workloads (EKS/ECS).
- Providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers and promoting best practices.
Desired Experience
To be successful in this position, you must have a very strong background in AWS platform engineering including:
- Extensive experience building and operating AWS environments at scale.
- Proven expertise with Control Tower and multi-account strategies.
- Deep understanding of AWS security.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code and automation experience.
- Programming skills in Python, Java or similar languages.
- Experience with Kubernetes/EKS.
