A specialist SME is seeking an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to lead the development and implementation of secure cloud environments for a public sector client. You will leverage the latest commercial and open-source technologies to build and maintain data-driven platforms, handling both batch and real-time analytics in cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy cloud infrastructure and applications using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
- Contribute to custom test automation framework development.
- Perform maintenance and updates to scripts based on evolving requirements or implementations.
- Support the setup and maintenance of environments for both manual and automated testing.
- Provide production support, investigating and resolving incidents as needed.
- Conduct ongoing maintenance for applications and environments.
- Assist in gap analysis to identify alternative solutions and recommend system modifications.
- Participate in contingency planning, ensuring reliable backup and restore procedures are in place.
- Document new or modified modules, testing activities, and results.
- Mentor and guide the team to meet customer requirements.
Core Competencies
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience delivering production-grade cloud solutions.
- Experience working in DevSecOps environments and Zero Trust Architecture.
- Hands-on experience deploying and operating infrastructure (network, servers, services) and applications in AWS and hybrid cloud environments.
- Skilled in using open-source and commercial software within a cloud-centric environment.
- Proficiency in source control (GitHub, GitLab) and conducting code reviews.
- Expertise in CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and relevant tools and frameworks.
- Proficient in cloud orchestration and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, ECS/EKS, and AKS.
- Knowledge of distributed event streaming technologies, such as Kafka and Flink.
