About Digital Science

We are a pioneering technology company, and our vision is of a future where a trusted and collaborative research ecosystem drives progress for all. We believe in better, open, collaborative and inclusive research. In creating the next generation of tools and working in partnership with the community we tackle some of the biggest challenges to research. In order to achieve our vision, we need innovative, inspiring and dynamic people to join our team.

Your new role

We are looking for a curious, detail-oriented Strategy Analyst to join our strategy function. You will play a key supporting role in our market intelligence work, helping to gather, organise and summarise information that feeds into strategic decisions across the business. This is a great entry point for someone who has gained early exposure to academic publishing, pharmaceutical or broader STM markets and wants to develop their analytical skills in a commercially focused environment. We care more about how you think than where you studied.

This is a hybrid role and will require attendance at our London (Farringdon) office once per week. Please be aware that we may close this position early if we receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage you to apply promptly.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Market Intelligence
    • Monitor and track competitor activity, market developments and industry news across STM and adjacent markets.
    • Maintain structured trackers and briefing documents to keep the team informed of key developments.
    • Conduct desk research and secondary research to support ongoing strategic projects, with the assistance of a variety of AI tools.
    • Summarise findings from multiple sources into clear, concise written outputs.
  • Analysis & Insight
    • Assist in analysing market trends, competitive positioning and growth dynamics under the guidance of senior team members.
    • Help prepare materials that contribute to strategic reviews, including data gathering, slide drafts and supporting documentation.
    • Flag relevant findings and patterns to the wider team as they emerge from ongoing research.
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with colleagues in strategy, commercial and product teams to understand their research needs.
    • Share research outputs clearly and proactively, asking questions when priorities or scope are unclear.
    • Contribute ideas to improve how the team collects and organises intelligence over time.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a research, analysis or related role.
  • Some exposure to academic publishing, STM, pharmaceutical or life sciences is preferred, but not essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to research a topic and communicate findings in a structured way.

Skills & Attributes

  • A natural curiosity and interest in how industries and markets work.
  • Good written communication skills; able to write clearly and without jargon.
  • Comfortable with Excel or equivalent tools for organising and summarising data.
  • Organised and reliable, with the ability to manage your own workload on day-to-day tasks.
  • Willing to ask for help, take feedback and develop quickly.
  • A genuine curiosity in how to leverage and work with AI.

Don't worry if you don't meet every qualification—let us be the judge! Studies show that many qualified candidates from under-represented groups hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement. We are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive team and strongly encourage you to submit your application.
