Your new role
We are looking for a qualified Accountant to join our Accounting, Tax & Corporate Reporting team. The Accountant will contribute to accurate and timely financial reporting across assigned entities, supporting the general ledger, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, and statutory and tax compliance activity. The role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and IFRS, good analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a remote‑first environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Contribute to financial statements: prepare supporting schedules and annual financial statements for assigned entities, in accordance with accounting standards and reporting deadlines.
- Maintain the general ledger: prepare and post journal entries and review ledger postings for accuracy, correct coding, and appropriate support.
- Deliver month-end and year-end close tasks: complete assigned close activities, including accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations, flagging issues to the Group Financial Controller for review or resolution.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations: produce reconciliations for assigned accounts each month, investigating and clearing reconciling items.
- Support audits and compliance: provide information and workpapers for external and internal audits, and assist with tax and regulatory requirements (e.g. sales tax, VAT, transfer pricing).
- Support internal controls: follow and document internal control procedures, and raise suggested improvements.
- Work with revenue accounting: use the Revenue Accountant's output for revenue recognition and deferred revenue balances, referring revenue treatment questions to the Revenue Accountant (Digital Science's IFRS technical lead).
- Liaise with local external accountants: support statutory and tax compliance filings for assigned entities by providing information and responding to queries, escalating relationship, contract, or fee matters to the VP, Accounting & Tax.
- Support variance analysis: assist Finance Business Partners with actual vs. budget/forecast analysis by preparing data and commentary.
- Contribute to process improvement: suggest and help implement improvements to accounting processes and NetSuite workflows, applying an AI‑first mindset, and provide day‑to‑day support to Junior Accountants where applicable.
Performance Standards
- Supporting schedules and draft financial statements delivered accurately and within reporting deadlines for assigned entities.
- Month-end and year-end close tasks completed on schedule, with assigned reconciliations produced monthly to a high standard and issues flagged promptly.
- Audit requests and tax compliance information provided accurately and on time.
- Queries and escalations raised with the Group Financial Controller, or VP, Accounting & Tax in a timely way.
- Process improvement ideas contributed, with demonstrable progress in technical skills and NetSuite proficiency over time.
Essential
- Qualified accountant with a UK chartered or recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- 2+ years' post-qualification (or equivalent) experience in accounting, preferably in a tech or software company.
- Working knowledge of IFRS.
- Experience with accounting software; NetSuite preferred.
- Good-to-advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with colleagues across departments.
Desirable
- Experience with SaaS/subscription revenue models and the software industry.
- Exposure to multi-entity or international reporting.
Culture & Behavioural Expectations
- Attention to Detail: accurate, well‑documented work.
- Analytical Thinking: understands the numbers behind the entries and can explain movements clearly.
- Problem Solving: identifies accounting issues early, proposes solutions, and applies an AI‑first mindset to improve ways of working.
- Adaptability: works effectively in a fast‑paced and changing environment.
- Team Collaboration & Accountability: a dependable, proactive member of a remote team who takes responsibility for their work and knows when to ask for input.
Don't worry if you don't meet every qualification—let us be the judge! Studies show that many qualified candidates from under‑represented groups hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement. We are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive team and strongly encourage you to submit your application.
