Your role

The Lead Engineer directs daily the Operations Site Team and its associated activities and Vendors to ensure that the Data Center is operated and maintained safely, within SLA, and with minimal risk. As the main point of contact, the Lead Engineer undertakes the day-to-day management of all activities of the Technical Operations Site Team, ensuring that all reactive and planned maintenance tasks are delivered to agreed timelines and SLAs/KPIs with full utilization of CMMS system and incidents are dealt with appropriately.

What you'll do

  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, regulatory standards, and permit systems, overseeing all on-site works.
  • Lead response to building services infrastructure issues, coordinating with Site Engineers and engaging third-party specialists when necessary.
  • Manage planned and reactive maintenance tasks on building services infrastructure, ensuring compliance with CMMS systems and operational procedures.
  • Monitor SLA compliance, communicate effectively with client representatives, and facilitate incident management processes.
  • Provide support to Data Center and Site Management teams, including communication assistance, technical information provision, and holiday/sickness coverage coordination.
  • Coordinate incident management, maintaining & issuing incident reports using CMMS systems.
  • Operate within defined Service Operations processes and work within site-specific standard operating procedures.
  • Undertake duties as required as an HV Authorized Person in all aspects required in the operation of an operational facility, from safe isolations to issuing of permits to work.
  • Develop & review operating procedures ensuring readiness for general & emergency situations.
  • Ensure statutory compliance, conduct testing, and address non-compliance issues within required timelines.
  • Oversee the initial supervision of Specialist Service Contractors, conducting inductions, approving minor works listed on service report sheets.
  • Ensure all subcontractors operating in operational areas are supervised and working within the specified constraints of their work permits, RAMS, MOP, and site regulations.

What you'll need

  • 3-5 years experience working in mission-critical mechanical & electrical environments within a large company, IT/Telecoms industry preferred.
  • Experience in data centers or a similar environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of key infrastructure components of DCs (like UPSs, Generators, and Cooling systems).
  • Recognized formal electrical training (City and Guilds etc.).
  • Experience and Knowledge of the Operation of Critical Building infrastructure (Electrical, Mechanical, and Building Fabric).
  • AP15 course and experience as an HV Authorized Person.
  • Ability to read and preferably work with Electrical and Mechanical diagrams.
  • Experience with maintenance and maintenance systems.
  • Must be self-driven, well organised, and able to prioritise and handle multiple tasks with attention to detail.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Reliable, setting high standards of personal commitment.
