Your role:

The Engineer will provide a range of support which may include technical difficulties, working with vendors to overcome intrinsic issues, working with site operations teams to improve usage and efficiency aspects, and identifying any areas for improvement. This may include site specific improvements, region wide improvement programmes, and oversight and reporting throughout. The Engineer plays a key role during incident and follow-up, including taking part in incident calls, root cause analysis exercises, and supporting sites throughout resolution of problem tasks. The Engineer may play a consultative role in the review of high-risk changes and incident reports.

What You'll Do:

  • General Duties: To assist the EMEA Reliability Manager and Technical Operations team in defining and implementing the Incident and Problem Management policy, process, and procedure, working with sites to ensure adoption, improving and optimising where appropriate, and owning specific problems and problem tasks as required.
  • Energy Efficiency and Technology Developments: Keeps up to date with data centre developments in terms of new technology in close co-operation with our suppliers, maintenance providers & design teams. Share and present to new initiatives to site operations teams and contribute to new data centre and extension projects as required. Take part in global improvement initiatives as required.
  • Reporting: Schedule regular face-to-face meetings with all countries to discuss operational performance of Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure, address any maintenance related issues and concerns and other maintenance related relevant topics. After these meetings, they will provide a regular update to the Reliability Manager and the Director of Technical Operations on any concerns relating to plant condition and operational activities.
  • Reactive Skills: When directed by the Reliability Manager or the Director of Technical Operations, carry out project management duties such as initial planning, costing, procurement, subcontractor selection, supervision, and management.
  • Technical Operations Team Working: Work collaboratively with the management and colleagues in Technical Operations across EMEA in ensuring that data, information, issues, plans, initiatives, and targets are visible and achieved in a team approach. Represents Technical Operations to the Technical Operations Communities, others within EMEA, and global colleagues as required to build the respect, trust, and credibility of the organization.

What You'll Need:

  • Educated in a relevant subject to level 5 in the European Qualifications Framework (e.g. UK HNC).
  • Accreditation with a relevant industry organisation.
  • Chartered Engineer status desirable.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English.
  • Relevant health and safety qualification.
  • Has experience commensurate with 5 – 10 years of experience working in mission critical Electrical environment within a large data centre, IT, Telecoms, or suitably similar organisation.
  • Can demonstrate leadership of a technical management function.
  • Understands operational and maintenance governance principles in the discipline of Electrical engineering to the level of subject matter expert.
  • Working Knowledge of Plan Do Check Act (Deming cycle) highly desirable.
  • Experience of taking part in and conducting root cause analyses, including awareness of the relevant frameworks.
  • Experience working with computerised maintenance management systems.
  • Experience required in management of external resources.
  • Can prepare & present relevant information to all types of audiences in audio, video, and stand-up settings.
