Your role

The Site Engineer III (SE) core responsibility is to perform infrastructure related activities in our Data Centers to ensure a reliable and efficient operation of the technical infrastructure. This is achieved through maintenance, testing and surveillance of all assets installed. The Site Engineer III is responsible for the planning and control of all day-to-day maintenance activities in cooperation with the Lead Engineer and provide leadership to the site teams, including project management for maintenance related activities. This role is critical to meet Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) and deliver client satisfaction, and when applicable being part of a 7x24 shift rotation.

What you’ll do

  • Operations and Compliance: Lead the planning and execution of equipment or system switching procedures, overseeing the process to guarantee smooth transitions and minimize downtime in data center operations. Responsible for contributing to the DC operating efficiency and the implementation of assigned optimization measures. Consult with site management to provide solutions and adhere to SLAs agreed in customer contracts. Ensure site overall appearance and cleanliness, escalating shortfalls when necessary. Proactively indicate and report if SLAs are in danger of being breached. Ensure all work is carried out within a 'safe system' and approved work processes, risk assessment, and specified work procedures, complying with best practice standards and legal requirements. Lead and manage projects to identify root causes of facility issues, acting as an escalation point for more junior team members. Handle technically complex and challenging situations, troubleshooting, and providing solutions for potential critical infrastructure availability.
  • Maintenance and Repair Works: Oversee and execute maintenance and repair tasks assigned by Site Operations Management or planned by the Technical Ops Planning function. Contributes to decisions and if mandated take decisions regarding maintenance tasks within local Site Management guidelines. Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and external suppliers. Responsible for troubleshooting, assembly, and daily scheduling of maintenance activities.
  • On-call Duties and Incident Management: When required, fulfill on-call duties, monitoring infrastructure and conducting site inspections. Incident management in close cooperation with the Manager on Duty. Supporting and when mandated responsible for activating and executing Emergency Operating Procedures where necessary.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document progress, issues, and results to support audits and customer inquiries. Report and document operational standard deviations, initiating improvement measures. Record changes to data center infrastructure per change management procedures, notifying customers within agreed timelines. Document progress, issues, and results of assigned maintenance tasks. Supervise, pre-approve, draft, and execute MOP’s, Change Requests (CR), and EOP’s as necessary.
  • Team Management and Leadership: Oversee and supervises site teams when requested by Site Management by providing leadership and when mandated acting autonomously in decision making for maintenance-related matters. Adapts a mentoring leadership style, advising, training, and guiding less experienced engineers.

What you’ll need

  • Proven experience in ‘Mission critical’ operations and maintenance of large scale electrotechnical and/or mechanical systems.
  • Technical education / training certification in the field of ‘Mission Critical’ Operations.
  • Education to a vocational level in a technical field and/or site engineering position.
  • Skilled in maintenance of electrotechnical and/or mechanical systems.
  • Preferably skilled in the maintenance of fire detection and suppression systems, HVAC, Electrical and/or Mechanical.
  • Novice in maintenance of conveyor technique (elevators), and/or technical security systems (CCTV, Access Control).
  • Proficient in utilizing various test equipment.
  • Having excellent problem analysis skills.
  • Pro-active with a Customer and Business focused and is searching for ways to enhance the agreed services to provide the customer with the best possible outcome.
