The Preservation Conservator (Archives) is based at IWM Duxford and part of the Preservation Team, within the Department of Collections Management.
The role has responsibility for implementing and delivering preservation programmes of work at all IWM sites related to the preservation of IWM’s analogue archive collection, including documents, sound recordings, film, photographs, and printed ephemera. This incorporates Integrated Pest Management, environmental monitoring and control, hazard awareness, and collections emergency planning and salvage. The role also works closely with other teams and supports the development of permanent and temporary exhibitions, digitalisation projects and storage programmes of work for the analogue archive collections.
The post is based at IWM’s Duxford branch, but the role occasionally requires work to be undertaken at all museum sites, as directed.
