The Archaeology Data Service (ADS) is a world-leading digital repository providing digital data archiving services for UK archaeology. It is a recognised component of UKRI’s research infrastructure and holds the CoreTrustSeal. From 2024, ADS is leading the establishment of the Heritage Science Data Service for the AHRC RICHeS programme. Based at the University of York, ADS works closely with external partners in Higher Education, the public, and the commercial archaeological sectors.
The service includes internal bespoke systems supporting digital preservation workflows, as well as public-facing services like ADS-easy for online deposition and OASIS for recording fieldwork events in the UK, hosted on behalf of national heritage agencies. Located in the medieval King’s Manor building in central York, the successful applicant will be a staff member at the University of York, with access to a pension scheme and various employee benefits. The ADS offers flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
About the Role
