University of the Arts London (UAL) has an opportunity for an Assistant Archivist to arrange, catalogue and promote the archive of Wimbledon College of Arts. This will include preparing a selection of items from the Archive for digitisation, which will be shared via our digital collections portal.
UAL is a vibrant world centre for innovation, drawing together six Colleges with international reputations in art, design, fashion, communication and performing arts.
Significant in the development of art and design education during the 20th Century, Wimbledon College of Arts taught a range of subjects including sculpture and fine art, as well as performance and costume making.
Responsibilities
- Arrange, catalogue and promote the archive of Wimbledon College of Arts.
- Prepare a selection of items from the Archive for digitisation, to be shared via the digital collections portal.
- Contribute to a programme to catalogue UALβs archives, museum and special collections to make them discoverable and to support teaching, learning and research, at UAL and beyond.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in Archives and Records management, or equivalent experience.
- Experience of preparing archival material for digitisation is desirable.
