Fixed Term

This role is an exciting opportunity to create the Institutional Archive for SKAO. The Digital Archivist will create the archive including working in a cross-functional team on the procurement and implementation of a digital preservation system. The Digital Archivist will report to the Administration Manager within the Director-General's office.

The Institutional Archive aims to collect, organise, preserve and maintain records, papers, publications, files and other material related to the business activities of SKAO. The main users are expected to include the scientific community, researchers, historians, government stakeholders, the media and individuals interested in the business activities of the SKAO. The Institutional Archive will be 'digital-first' and where material did not begin its life electronically it will be converted to include it in the SKAO Archive. The Institutional Archive will not include observational science data from the SKAO telescopes, or the collection, preservation, or maintenance of astronomical images.

This role is based at the SKAO Headquarters at Jodrell Bank, Cheshire, UK and is a two-year fixed term contract. SKAO is committed to providing an inclusive and flexible working environment, meeting the requests of our Colleagues whilst also fulfilling the needs and objectives of the Observatory. There may be occasions where this role requires the post holder to work across different time zones and, in line with SKAO policy, flexible working hours will be supported in agreement with the line manager.
