An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced angling professional to take on a leadership role combining education, campaigning, stakeholder engagement and strategy.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who understands the angling community from the inside and is passionate about protecting its future, developing opportunities for young people and influencing the issues affecting the sport.

Working across two key areas - a national fishing education programme and a wider campaign supporting the interests of the angling community - you will play a pivotal role in shaping strategy, building relationships and driving meaningful impact.

The Role

  • Lead and develop a national fishing education programme, expanding its reach across schools and communities.
  • Recruit, train and manage a network of coaches, ensuring high standards of delivery, safeguarding and quality.
  • Develop and deliver an effective campaigning strategy focused on issues affecting the angling community.
  • Build strong relationships with angling clubs, governing bodies, schools, charities, politicians and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the organisation at meetings, events and in the media, acting as a credible spokesperson on angling-related issues.
  • Monitor policy developments, emerging challenges and opportunities affecting the sector.
  • Create engaging communications and content across digital platforms, publications and social media.
  • Work collaboratively with fundraising colleagues to secure support for programme development and expansion.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines genuine subject matter expertise with the ability to lead programmes, influence stakeholders and communicate effectively.

You will ideally have:

  • A strong understanding of the angling sector, its community, key organisations and internal workings.
  • Experience within angling, fisheries, fishing organisations or a closely related field.
  • Experience delivering educational programmes, working with schools or developing learning initiatives.
  • Knowledge of campaigning, public affairs, politics or policy-related work.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to represent an organisation publicly.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.

Experience managing staff, coaches or volunteers nationally would be advantageous, as would angling instructor qualifications, teaching credentials or experience securing charitable funding.

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to combine a passion for angling with education, advocacy and strategic leadership, helping shape the future of the sector and inspire the next generation.

Location: London, with hybrid working and travel to schools, meetings and events as required.

Salary: Dependent on experience.
