Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable intern to support a range of programmes, projects and events across Digital Jersey. The six-month internship will provide broad, hands‑on experience in programme delivery, administration, communications, events and stakeholder engagement, with a particular focus on coordinating and supporting the delivery of STEM Racing.
The intern will work with colleagues, schools, students, volunteers and industry partners. The role would suit someone who is keen to gain practical experience, develop new skills and contribute within a varied working environment. Training will be provided where needed.
Key Responsibilities
General programme and project support
- Support the day-to-day delivery of Digital Jersey programmes and projects
- Help coordinate STEM activities, schedules, resources and follow‑up actions
- Carry out research, prepare materials and assist with presentations for STEM programmes
- Support general administration and communications
- Work flexibly across the team as priorities and opportunities arise
STEM Racing and education support
- Take day-to-day ownership of the coordination and administration of STEM Racing activities, with support from the Innovation Manager.
- Assist with school visits, workshops, support sessions and learner engagement
- Help students and teachers access programme information, resources and guidance
- Support design, prototyping and manufacturing activities, including CAD, 3D printing and CNC processes, with training provided
- Help prepare cars, components, learning materials and competition resources
- Help maintain programme schedules, records and communications with participating schools and other stakeholders
- Follow Digital Jersey’s safeguarding arrangements and relevant policies when working with children and young people
Events, outreach and communications
- Assist with planning and delivering events, competitions, exhibitions and community activities
- Support event logistics, setup, registration, participant engagement and evaluation
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- A genuine interest in developing new skills and gaining workplace experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- A practical, proactive and adaptable approach
- Confidence using standard IT tools and a willingness to learn new software
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- An interest in working with young people, schools and external partners
Desirable
- An interest in STEM, engineering, technology, design, education or innovation
- Experience of CAD, 3D printing, product design, Design & Technology (DT) or maker activities
- Knowledge of STEM Racing, formerly F1 in Schools, or a similar competition
- Experience helping at events, workshops, clubs or group activities
- A full driving licence
