The Digital Product Owner will research and determine the business needs to create the end-to-end digital customer journey for its financial products that are disrupting the sector. They will be the primary contact between business stakeholders and development teams, driving the development of the digital customer journey using agile methodologies.

They will gather and document requirements to present the vision and road map to deliver objectives while acting as the voice of the customer throughout the SDLC process. By working with cross-functional teams, they will determine the features to include and pitch ideas for product development to stakeholders.

This business is based in beautiful offices in the heart of city centre Manchester. The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days per week onsite in these offices. Flexible start and finish times to suit personal commitments can be supported. This business has a well-established product team, operating within a multi-discipline environment in a very collaborative way. This role involves working with a disruptive brand in the financial services industry, leading product innovations that redefine customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborating with users and clients to understand and anticipate their needs, translating them into product requirements.
  • Defining the vision for the company’s product.
  • Creating a product road map based on this vision.
  • Developing and documenting user stories and user story maps.
  • Leading design workshops to address business requirements.
  • Managing the product backlog and continuously prioritising items based on evolving needs.
  • Overseeing all stages of product development.
  • Delivering product demonstrations and leading sprint reviews to gather feedback on developed features.
  • Participating in Scrum meetings and product sprints, representing the customer throughout the SDLC.
  • Defining product requirements and working closely with the UI/UX team to ensure alignment with product goals.
  • Understanding product domains and explaining complex issues in simple terms to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Supporting the implementation of the product and its features for clients and business users.
  • Effectively communicating the value/benefit of new product features to business users and clients.
  • Overseeing the delivery of new product features, reviewing feedback, and deciding whether it should be added to the product backlog.
  • Supporting senior management in evaluating existing products and forming strategies to select, develop, or update new/existing products.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Previously led and managed the implementation of an online customer application and members area from inception to delivery.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a product owner role or a leading role in software development projects in a customer-facing capacity.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to a range of audiences, acting as a translator between technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience working with agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills and an informed, evidence-based approach.
  • A passion for creating solutions with a positive attitude to change.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the product owner role.
  • Excellent at documenting requirement specifications, development sprint tickets, and producing timelines and supporting documentation for senior business leaders.
  • Leading daily standups, 3 Amigo sessions, and Scrums.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Projects).
