I'm partnering with a fast-growing, privately owned UK retail business that's investing heavily in its online Marketplace, and I'm on the hunt for a New Business Lead to help drive that growth. This is a genuinely exciting opportunity. My client has ambitious plans for their Marketplace and needs someone commercially sharp to lead seller acquisition from the ground up, identifying the right sellers, building relationships, pitching the value of joining the platform, and carrying deals through from first conversation to successful onboarding. You'll have real autonomy here, working closely with the Marketplace Manager to shape category growth rather than just execute against a plan someone else has set.
Day to day, you'll be:
- Building and managing a pipeline of prospective sellers across priority categories
- Running market and competitor analysis to spot where the gaps and opportunities are
- Leading seller vetting and compliance checks to keep standards high
- Guiding new sellers through onboarding and their critical first few months
- Representing the business at trade shows and industry events
- Reporting on KPIs and using data to sharpen the acquisition strategy over time
What my client is looking for:
- 3–5+ years' experience in business development, sales, or partner acquisition, ideally within a marketplace, e-commerce, or digital platform environment
- A track record in seller/product compliance
- Strong commercial instincts, confident pitching and negotiating
- Comfortable working with Excel and pulling insight from data
- Mirakl Marketplace experience is a nice-to-have, not a dealbreaker
- Someone organised, proactive, and happy working cross-functionally
