We've partnered with a leading firm with global presence. They are looking for an IT Cloud Platform Engineer to join a 16-strong IT Infrastructure Services team responsible for designing, deploying and managing a secure, highly available cloud and on-premise environment. This is a hands-on Azure DevOps and platform engineering role. You'll be working across Azure cloud services and VMware Broadcom environments spanning all data centres and offices, with responsibility for Windows server infrastructure, vulnerability management, MDM, BCDR and continuous improvement. This is not a siloed enterprise role. You'll collaborate closely with development teams, product owners, data engineers and senior stakeholders, with broad ownership across cloud architecture, systems administration and platform operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the firm's cloud services and VMware Broadcom environments across all data centres and offices
- Design and deploy scalable cloud architectures focused on performance, security and resilience
- Manage and maintain the Windows server environment, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and certificate services
- Manage vulnerability management solutions and remediate vulnerabilities in line with firm policies
- Ensure server infrastructure patching and change scheduling are maintained in line with firm policy
- Troubleshoot and resolve server and application-related issues, recording steps in the IT Service Management tool
- Generate weekly capacity management reports and conduct trend analysis
- Build and deploy Windows Servers and SaaS/PaaS solutions as required
- Manage and maintain the firm's Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution
- Provide advanced technical support to other departments across the business
- Proactively monitor all systems and services using the IT department tooling
- Liaise with vendors and external partners to support delivery and operations
- Ensure all servers and services have adequate BCDR protection and are backed up in line with policy
- Support and manage the firm's Microsoft Dynamics AX solution
- Participate in the out-of-hours rota to monitor and respond to critical alerts and emergency escalations
Skills & Experience
- Proven hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Entra Services, adhering to security best practices including identity management, access control and threat protection
- Background in infrastructure, systems administration or DevOps with knowledge of networking, monitoring and support
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server 2016–2022 and core Windows Server Services
- Experience managing server infrastructure in a data centre environment
- Experience managing and remediating vulnerabilities across enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of security standards, including CIS and ISO27001
- Proficiency in at least one coding or scripting language
- ITIL Foundation certification or solid working knowledge of ITIL processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work independently under pressure
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong time management
Desirable but not essential
- Familiarity with Azure tools, including AKS, Azure Functions and IaC tooling such as Terraform
- Experience with network application load balancing products such as F5 or equivalent
- Knowledge of MDM products such as Intune or equivalent
- Experience in configuring firewalls, switches and routers
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX or systems widely used in the legal sector
