A Legal Project Manager is required for a Global Law Firm in London or Manchester. This role involves managing matter scope, schedules, delivery risks, parties, and stakeholders to ensure client needs are met while maximising commercial performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead project management on multiple legal matters in conjunction with legal teams and clients.
  • Portfolio management for clients with multiple matters and specialist projects to improve the delivery of legal services through Legal Technology & innovation.
  • Participate in pitch presentations to clients on the role of Legal Project Management (LPM) on matters and approach.
  • Scope work and tasks on matters as part of preparing budgets/estimates.
  • Financial management of legal matters including reviewing work in progress, managing disbursements/external costs, and regular reporting to clients.
  • Set up, manage, and coordinate the use of client collaboration platforms for a portfolio of matters.
  • Work collaboratively with Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Information Systems to leverage firm solutions that support efficient working.
  • Source and manage alternative delivery options for matter resources.
  • Prepare plans and schedules for matters ranging from weeks to many years and forecast legal spend in upcoming periods.
  • Utilise matter pricing, profitability, and reporting dashboards to ensure effective financial management data.

Experience and knowledge:

  • At least 2-5 years experience leading projects in the legal, consulting, or other professional service sectors.
  • Legal project or matter management experience with a strong understanding of all stages in a matter lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with senior business stakeholders, selling LPM internally, budgeting, and planning.
  • Change management experience.
  • A recognised project management qualification is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to learn and invest time in mentoring colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, professionalism, and interpersonal skills.
