About the job

A Business Intelligence Specialist will work within an agile development team providing effective technical solutions through the design, implementation, and testing of Microsoft BI technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain business intelligence using Microsoft BI technologies.
  • Understand and implement data modeling using best practices and star schema design.
  • Analyze complex data from multiple sources including SQL Server databases and Analysis Services Tabular models.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and subject matter experts to gather requirements and provide technical expertise.
  • Distil complex business concepts and data into readily understood information and visualisations for key stakeholders to drive their business performance.
  • Develop relationships with our internal functional groups, to improve the quality and availability of high-value data.
  • Work in collaboration with data and analytics governance members to improve our data structure.
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies and make recommendations where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology or engineering field, or equivalent combination of experience with 2-5 years experience in delivering business intelligence solutions.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Power BI including data modeling, ETL, and authoring DAX for querying and calculations.
  • Strong working knowledge of: Power BI, Power Query, DAX, SQL, and best practices in data visualization.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) concepts and agile methodology.
  • Comfortable working with colleagues at all levels within the firm; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible self-starter comfortable with tackling new projects independently while also being able to take direction from senior staff.
  • Ability to clearly explain both business and technical BI concepts; superior communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment, effectively manage time and tight deadlines; able to multitask.
  • International law firm experience preferred.
