Job description – Private Ambulance Driver

Digital Autopsy UK are a team of entrepreneurs and innovators on a mission to redefine how post-mortems are carried out in the UK. We are only eight years into our journey in the UK but so far we\’ve already helped thousands of bereaved families.

You will be responsible for transporting deceased people from 4 local hospital mortuaries to our scanning facility in Totton.

You will work closely with our Service Team to ensure a timely and smooth transfer of the deceased between the resting mortuary and our facility.

Responsibilities

To collect and transport the deceased from 4 local mortuaries in Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke and Portsmouth and transfer to Digital Autopsy facility.

  • Work closely with the Service Team to ensure transfers are undertaken to the appropriate location in a timely manner.
  • Assist staff and mortuary staff with handling and moving of the deceased.
  • Conduct oneself with pride and be mindful of ensuring the dignity of the deceased.
  • Maintain a smart well-turned-out appearance.
  • Drive private ambulance to the standards required, maintain the cleanliness both externally and internally of the vehicles and re-fuel in line with operational policies.
  • Maintenance of your vehicle & equipment.
  • Ensure vehicles are driven at the correct speed limits in accordance with the law.
  • Assist with administration work when required.
  • Carry out other level-appropriate tasks as may be required.

The Candidate

  • Full Manual Driving Licence – 6 points or less
  • Physically fit and smart in appearance
  • Funeral background experience would be an advantage, but full training will be given to the right person.
  • You must have a sympathetic and empathetic approach to the nature of the work.
  • Able to work under pressure and without supervision.
  • Good communicator.

Job Type: Part Time Permanent/37.5 hour per week

Salary: £13.27 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday – No weekends or bank holidays
