REPORTING LINES
Production Systems Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To support the day-to-day running of the production network infrastructure and software/services for the imaging departments.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Linux, Windows and OSX administration of imaging servers and workstations.
  2. Optimizing network infrastructure for best performance in digital image workflows.
  3. Managing multiple networks: LAN, MAN, WAN.
  4. DMZ, Internal and External Electronic Delivery Administration.
  5. Active Directory and VMware Administration.
  6. Backup and Archive methodology and future proofing.
  7. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize all LAN networking connections.
  8. Support Digital Imaging applications on Linux servers and Windows workstations.
  9. Develop and apply operational practices and procedures for Production system technical support, recommending policies on system use and services.
  10. Monitor, troubleshoot, and report on computer systems reliability to maintain agreed service level targets.
  11. Maintain installation, configuration, and systems documentation with best practice procedures. Define policies and review procedures for servers and workstations.
  12. Project-related systems solutions to support changing business requirements.
  13. Support other teams within the Technology department.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  1. Experience working as Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer within a digital data organization.
  2. Experience of administration of Linux and Windows, with 4 years experience working alongside high performance storage SAN solutions.
  3. Experience of working within a Post Production Facility or Media Industry.
  4. Networking Infrastructure Administration.
  5. Scripting languages.
  6. VMware.
  7. Good Understanding of Security.

SKILLS REQUIRED
Technologies

  1. SAN Methodology.
  2. Fibre Channel networking and switching fabrics.
  3. Ethernet LAN, MAN, WAN Networking.
  4. NAS Appliance.
  5. Active Directory.
  6. VMware.

Operating systems

  1. Windows Win7.
  2. Windows 2008 – 2012 Server.
  3. RedHat, Centos Linux.
  4. OSX.

Preferably exposure to the following

  1. Python Scripting.
  2. Electronic Delivery Methodology.
  3. Exposure to 2D/3D applications such as DVS Clipster, Photoshop, After Effects.
  4. Renderfarm methodology.
  5. SAN File Systems.
  6. Post Production workflow exposure.

INNATE ABILITIES
You will have the flexibility to work on back-end systems, data systems, and imaging workstations. You will keep all documentation of systems updated and refine the documentation where required. You will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate a structured and methodical, logical approach to problem-solving with good attention to detail. You will be able to work as part of a team and under your own initiative and handle the pressure of workloads. You will work towards deadlines and ensure that you notify your line manager in advance if you feel you will be unable to meet those deadlines, for whatever reason.

You will be eager to understand the film post-production process and use that knowledge to support DDC’s production systems. You will be eager to understand current and new developments in the film post-production and digital cinema mastering process and use that knowledge to support DDC’s production systems.

WORKING HOURS
Monday – Friday 09:30 – 18:00
On Call (Monday 18:00 – Monday 08:00) after probation period, 1 week in 5.
