A well-established and highly regarded growing professional services business in Newcastle is looking to bring an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist into its team. This is a hands-on role with real variety you'll be working across a broad client base, dealing with everything from straightforward weekly payrolls to more involved monthly cycles, with plenty of scope to put your expertise to use. What you’ll be doing:

  • Running full payroll cycles end-to-end (both weekly and monthly) for a varied portfolio of clients, ranging from SMEs through to larger, more complex businesses.
  • Managing pension schemes across multiple providers from initial setup through to ongoing administration, ensuring contributions and submissions are accurate and on time.
  • Acting as the trusted first point of contact for clients, offering practical payroll advice and building long-term working relationships.
  • Handling the more technical side of the role reconciliations, manual calculations and resolving queries that need a sharper eye.
  • Supporting the development of junior team members, sharing your know-how and helping them grow into their roles.

What we’re looking for:

  • Solid background in payroll.
  • Strong working knowledge of current UK payroll legislation, HMRC processes and auto-enrolment.
  • Confident with manual calculations and able to spot and resolve discrepancies quickly.
  • Experience with leading payroll software (Sage, BrightPay, IRIS or similar).
  • Comfortable managing your own workload and working to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills you’ll be liaising with clients regularly.
