Are you an experienced QHSE professional ready to take ownership of health, safety, and quality across a technically complex, fast-paced engineering environment? We're working with a well-established and growing engineering business near Maidstone, Kent, to find a Health & Safety Manager who can lead the function with real autonomy and senior visibility from day one.
THE ROLE
Reporting directly into senior leadership, you’ll be responsible for driving a positive safety culture across the business — developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s QHSE management systems, policies, and procedures. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading all health, safety, environment, and quality activity across site operations
- Owning and maintaining ISO accreditations and internal audit programmes
- Conducting risk assessments, method statements, and incident investigations
- Delivering toolbox talks, training sessions, and H&S inductions
- Acting as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and external auditors
- Championing continuous improvement across all QHSE disciplines
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent — essential
- Demonstrable QHSE experience, ideally within engineering, manufacturing, utilities, construction, or a similarly complex, regulated environment
- A confident communicator — able to influence at all levels, from shop floor to boardroom
- A pragmatic, hands-on approach with a genuine passion for driving safety culture
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and/or ISO 45001
- Based within comfortable commuting distance of Maidstone, Kent
WHY THIS ONE?
You’ll be joining a business that genuinely values its people and takes its safety obligations seriously — not just on paper. This is a standalone management role with the backing of senior leadership and real scope to make a lasting impact. If you’re looking for somewhere to own the function rather than just maintain it, this is worth a conversation. Interested? Feel free to apply with your CV or call for more details.
