Summary
The IT Operations & Security Specialist at digiLab will be instrumental in building, managing, and securing our internal systems and IT infrastructure. You will oversee day-to-day IT helpdesk support, manage multi-site network infrastructure and hardware maintenance, and design, implement, and maintain security tooling and policies. You'll partner with teams across the business to build strong, reliable IT foundations that enable the company to grow safely while keeping day-to-day operations smooth. In addition, you will be the point of contact for client-related security questions. This is a part-time role (day(s) to be decided), and is based in our Exeter HQ. Travel to our other locations will be required.
The Role
- Keeping Team Access Smooth and Secure: Help everyone get seamless, secure access to the tools they need from day one, guiding smooth onboarding and offboarding while making sure our everyday apps stay safe and simple to use.
- Protecting Our Everyday Devices: Look after and monitor our laptops and tech (Mac, Windows, and more), making sure team hardware is always updated, protected, and running without a hitch.
- Proactive Defense & Problem Solving: Set up and manage security tools that protect our workplace, resolve issues quickly when things go off-track, and run friendly security awareness exercises to keep the team sharp.
- Building Trust with Clients & Standards: Answer security questions from clients with clarity and confidence, while maintaining our standards and certifications like CyberEssentials and ISO27001/SOC2.
- Reliable Networks & Systems: Ensure our office networks, Wi-Fi, cloud platforms, and backups run dependably behind the scenes so the team can work uninterrupted wherever they are.
- Supportive IT & Equipment Care: Be a helpful, approachable point of contact for IT support across the business, managing new hardware, setup, and equipment throughout its lifecycle.
Required Skills
- Support & Operations: Proven experience in IT helpdesk support, including remote and in-person hardware setup (onboarding/offboarding), printer troubleshooting, and software provisioning.
- Infrastructure & Networking: Hands-on experience maintaining office networks, Wi-Fi, and connectivity (VPNs, WAN/LAN) across multiple sites.
- IT Security & Compliance: A solid foundation in IT security principles and corporate security engineering, with a focus on endpoint security and data confidentiality.
- Compliance Awareness: Familiarity with data protection standards (like GDPR) and security frameworks (e.g., CyberEssentials, ISO27001, or SOC2).
- Client-Facing Communication: Experience responding to security questionnaires and translating complex technical concepts into clear, simple language for non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive, 'hands-on' approach to troubleshooting with a strong desire to learn and implement new AI tools for efficiency.
