We at Difrent, a digital consultancy, are excited to announce that an opportunity has arisen for a Functional Tester to join one of our clients in the public sector based in Blackpool on a contract basis.

As the Functional Tester, you will ensure that the entire end product works correctly, i.e. all the systems involved, and their interfaces, conform to requirements. The candidate should be familiar with manual testing, executing tests, raising defects, may be required to test batch at times, possibly running some SQL and running some USP (desirable). It is essential that the ideal candidate has experience working in legacy environments.

Rate: up to £450 per day

Location: Blackpool

Start date: Immediate

Duration: 6 months + (possible extension)

Functional Tester Responsibilities:

  • Plan, Produce and Execute test cases and check results to ensure the system's technical and functional requirements are met
  • Understanding of project life cycle methodology and full project life cycle testing experience
  • Manage progress against own goals and report/escalate accordingly
  • Identify, raise and report on defects
  • Execute regression and defect assurance activities
  • Solid experience in defining, coordinating and managing end to end functional test delivery, with hands on agile experience as well as other methodologies
  • Analysis, definition and implementation of appropriate test strategies, approaches and plans including effective risk-based approaches

Functional Tester Essential Skills:

  • Experience of legacy systems
  • Django Behave or similar 2+ years
  • Demonstrable knowledge of API structures XML, json, or similar 2+ years
  • Browser developer tools 2+ years
  • GIT 1+ year
  • Experience in testing CMS (Content Management Systems)

Functional Tester Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of load runner
  • Understanding of CI server Jenkins, TeamCity, Travis or similar
  • Unit Testing
