Job Title: Production Engineer

Reports to: Operations Director

Location: 100% onsite, West Molesey (KT8 2QZ) – with a requirement to travel to other UK sites.

Job type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm

Job Profile

As a Production Engineer at Diffusion, you will play a key role in driving process improvement, project management, and technical expertise across our manufacturing and production systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize efficiency, eliminate waste, and enhance the overall quality of our production processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvements in production processes, facility layout, and overall production efficiency while reducing waste and improving quality.
  • Implement best-in-class techniques and technologies to enhance output, quality, and safety across the production environment.
  • Generate and maintain accurate production timing data by work center within the operating system.
  • Act as the interface between design engineering and production teams, managing the introduction of new products, design changes, and process improvements into production.
  • Define production processes for new products, including assembly processes, layout, tooling, and test equipment.
  • Continuously review and optimize operational processes from order creation through to dispatch.
  • Oversee the relocation of assembly lines to improve operational flow and efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and project management efforts, utilizing tools such as 5S, Kaizen, SPC, Six Sigma, OEE, and Lean systems.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Degree in either Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in both manufacturing and electrical engineering, with hands-on involvement in the manufacture of electromechanical assemblies (preferably within a similar industry).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly across teams.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like 5S, Kaizen, and others.
  • In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles, with a proven track record of applying them in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Inventor, RADAN, SolidWorks, Composer, and DraftSight.
  • Project management experience, from concept through to successful implementation of production processes or changes.
  • Sound understanding of Health and Safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing environments.
