About the Role:
We’re seeking a highly skilled Passive Fire Remediation specialist to lead the technical design and specification of remedial works following fire door and compartmentation surveys. This role demands a deep understanding of passive fire protection, fire strategies, and building regulations, with the capability to interpret complex fire safety documentation and translate it into actionable scopes of work.
Due to the complexity and responsibility of this role, the successful candidate will likely operate as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with fire engineers, project managers, and quality assurance professionals to ensure full regulatory compliance and quality delivery across all phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret fire strategies and perform gap analysis against existing compartmentation and fire door surveys
- Design and develop detailed, compliant specifications of work for passive fire protection remedial projects
- Produce technical documentation and marked-up plans/drawings for fire-stopping, fire door upgrades, and compartmentation improvement
- Collaborate with surveyors, clients, and contractors to ensure technical clarity and effective delivery
- Review completed work through quality assurance processes, including dip sampling and documentation audit
- Contribute to project planning and execution, supporting budgeting, procurement, and scheduling processes
Required Skills & Qualifications (Hard Skills):
- Level 3 Award in Passive Fire Protection (or equivalent)
- Level 3-4 Fire Risk Assessment qualifications (preferred)
- Fire Door Inspection Certification (e.g., Level 3 Award/Diploma)
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Approved Document B and other relevant Building Regulations
- Competence in reviewing fire risk assessments and fire strategies
- CAD or drawing software experience for mark-up and technical illustrations
Soft Skills and Complementary Experience:
- Project Management experience or certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP)
- Strong commercial awareness including budget control and procurement
- Excellent technical writing skills for drafting scopes of work and specifications
- A collaborative mindset, comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in quality assurance and control processes for fire protection works
Desirable Experience:
- Background in or experience with high-occupancy or complex public buildings, such as arenas or stadiums
- Chartered or Incorporated status with relevant fire engineering or surveying institutions
