A&P Falmouth is one of the largest ship-repair facilities in the UK, providing a complete range of marine repair services thanks to our on-site engineering, fabrication, electrical and paint departments. We are a centre of excellence for MoD defence vessels, ferries, mobilisation and demobilisation works, jack-ups, pontoons and tankers. A&P Falmouth is also a busy working port where we handle over 100,000 tonnes of product every year and in addition to this cruise ships call alongside, berthing at our dock facilities near the centre of town.
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic applicants who show a keen interest in their chosen field and a genuine desire to learn and develop within the marine industry. Applicants should ideally have a minimum of Grade 4 in GCSE Maths and English, along with a positive attitude, good communication skills and a strong work ethic. A willingness to work as part of a team and follow safety procedures is essential in our busy working environment.
As our Apprentice you’ll become an expert in time by learning your specialist skill whether you choose Marine/Mechanical Engineering, Machining, Welding/Fabrication of Steel or Pipe, or Electrical work. Through a blend of on the job and classroom learning you will earn while you learn and will be given all the guidance and support that you need to succeed. You’ll get the opportunity to work with a variety of customers to gain the perspective of different companies and train onboard vessels. Gain practical experience working on complex ship-repair projects, from maintenance and refit to fabrication and engineering, contributing to real-world solutions in a busy marine environment.
Our teams take pride in delivering exceptional projects and consistently achieving the highest standards for our customers and you could be part of that. We also work within the community, support local charities and the RNLI crew. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive environment where we provide career development and progression for those looking for it. Your qualification(s) will be fully funded and you’ll be paid a weekly wage. Financial security with important benefits like your pension and generous life cover as part of your package. Work-life balance with 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, along with family-friendly policies to help you manage personal and professional commitments.
Applications are now open and will close on Friday 27 February 2026. Simply click the “Apply to Position” button, fill in and submit the application questionnaire.
Complete and submit your questionnaire and then we will be in touch. If successful we’ll invite you to an assessment and interview at the College. If all goes well at the College, we’ll invite you to a face-to-face interview at the Docks. If you’re successful in that interview, the next stage will be an onsite familiarisation session, then if all fits into place, you will be offered an Apprenticeship position to start in September 2026.
Due to the nature of what we do for some of the customers that we work with, some roles working for A&P are subject to security control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform with us. You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check and you may have to attain Security Check (SC) Clearance.
