Due to continued growth and success, Total Security are on the lookout for a Chromium Browser Developer to expand the team. The role is office based at our HQ is Segensworth, PO15 5TT.

The Chromium Browser Developer will be an integral part of the ongoing development of Total Security\’s privacy-focused browser. This role requires a deep understanding of the Chromium codebase and a passion for building innovative browser features that enhance user security and privacy. The Chromium Browser Developer will collaborate closely with the browser extensions team to ensure seamless integration and optimal functionality.Responsibilities:Browser Development:
- Develop and maintain features for the Chromium-based browser.
- Implement security and privacy enhancements within the browser.
- Optimize browser performance and resource usage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve browser-related issues.
- Stay up-to-date with Chromium development and security patches.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
Collaboration and Integration:
- Work closely with the browser extensions team to design and implement features that leverage browser capabilities.
- Ensure compatibility and seamless integration between the browser and extensions.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to address cross-browser dependencies.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
Security and Privacy:
- Proactively identify and address potential security vulnerabilities within the browser.
- Implement privacy-preserving features and safeguards.
- Stay informed about emerging security threats and privacy concerns.
- Adhere to industry best practices for secure coding and data handling.
Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Write unit tests and integration tests to ensure code quality.
- Participate in user acceptance testing and bug fixing.
- Monitor browser performance and stability.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated testing frameworks.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Strong proficiency in C++.
- Deep understanding of the Chromium open-source project. Including customisations to the build process, localisation techniques, implementing custom extension APIs.
- Experience with browser development and web technologies.
- Proven ability to write high-quality, secure code.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
