About the Role

As a Material Planner at Artifex Elmdon, you will play a critical role in ensuring materials are available to support uninterrupted production and successful customer delivery. Working closely with suppliers, production planning, scheduling, engineering and purchasing teams, you will analyse demand, manage supply requirements and maintain accurate planning data within the ERP system. This is a fast-paced role where proactive problem solving, strong supplier relationships and attention to detail are essential. You will help drive supply chain performance, support new product launches, manage engineering changes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will monitor material requirements against production schedules and customer demand, identifying shortages and working with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
  • The role includes maintaining accurate MRP schedules, reviewing supplier schedules, managing purchase order changes and communicating demand fluctuations to suppliers.
  • You will oversee supplier EDI and ASN compliance, resolve shipment and ASN issues, monitor supplier performance and escalate risks where necessary.
  • You will support engineering change implementation, manage inventory burn-off plans, minimise supplier-related costs and ensure accurate reporting of receipts, returns and non-conforming materials.
  • In addition, you will maintain planning master data, participate in planning reviews and contribute to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.

About You

You have proven experience within a production planning, materials planning or manufacturing scheduling environment and are confident working with ERP and MRP systems. Experience supporting new product launches within a manufacturing setting is essential. You are highly analytical, organised and comfortable making decisions based on data while remaining practical and hands-on in your approach. You communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and can challenge, influence and hold others accountable when required.

A good understanding of lean manufacturing principles, supplier management and OEM quality standards is important. You are proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications and bring a positive, self-motivated attitude with a commitment to teamwork, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
