Main purpose of the job

Responsible for planning, facilitating and moderating of FMEA activities in accordance with AIAG VDA FMEA methodology across the business. Ensuring engagement of cross functional teams to consistently identify, assess, and mitigate product and process risks throughout the product lifecycle, supporting compliance with automotive quality standards, Artifex and customer-specific requirements.

Main missions and results

  • FMEA Leadership: Lead and moderate cross functional DFMEA and PFMEA activities using AIAG VDA methodology and APIS IQ RM, ensuring disciplined execution and aligned decisions.
  • Risk Integrity & Governance: Own FMEA quality, integrity, maturation and escalation. Enforce justified use of Severity, Occurrence, Detection, and Action Priority. Challenge assumptions, unjustified ratings, and ‘paper actions.’
  • Decision Enablement: Act as a trusted, neutral facilitator who resolves conflicting viewpoints through structured, evidence-based discussion.
  • Escalation & Accountability: Clearly escalates unacceptable residual risk, ensuring ownership, transparency, and timely resolution at root cause.
  • Standardisation & Alignment: Define, deploy, and govern common FMEA, Control Plan, and Process Flow standards across all locations. Ensure DFMEA–PFMEA alignment and full traceability to controls and results.
  • Lifecycle Ownership: Ensure FMEA’s develop in line with the defined program requirements and quality methodology and that they remain living documents throughout change, industrialisation, and serial production.
  • Organisational Learning: Maintain and deploy Foundation FMEAs and promote reuse of historical content and lessons learned across programs.
  • Capability Building: Define and deliver FMEA method and software training. Provide hands on coaching to raise technical rigor and thinking maturity.
  • Audit & Compliance Excellence: Ensure audit ready FMEAs aligned to AIAG VDA, IATF 16949, and OEM CSRs. Support internal and external audits with confidence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous enhancement of FMEA processes, tools, and behaviours using launch feedback, quality issues, and field data.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Establish, maintain and report out appropriate FMEA KPI’s to the business & functional lead to ensure Maturation, Quality and robustness of FMEA’s and the associated documents.

Preferred skills and experience

  • Extensive automotive industry experience required
  • Proven experience moderating DFMEAs and PFMEAs
  • Hands on experience with AIAG VDA FMEA methodology
  • Experience working in cross functional, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of AIAG VDA FMEA, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, risk assessment and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with APIS IQ FMEA software
  • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and/or product development.
