We are seeking an experienced Civils Inspector to support large-scale fibre rollout and network build programmes. The role will ensure civils activities are delivered safely, to specification, and in line with statutory and client requirements across fibre infrastructure projects. This role will involve business travel to GCU UK Ltd sites across the UK.
What We expect of you:
In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting civils works that support fibre network builds, ensuring that all duct and chamber installations, trenching, blockage resolutions, and reinstatement activities meet required standards. You will ensure full compliance with NRSWA, HAUC, SROH, and local authority permits while verifying that all works align with approved designs, build packs, and fibre network specifications. You will carry out thorough quality inspections, snagging, and final acceptance checks, identifying any defects, non‑compliances, or safety concerns and driving timely close‑out. As part of your day‑to‑day duties, you will monitor contractor workmanship, productivity, and overall site standards, liaise effectively with build partners, project teams, and local authorities, and complete accurate inspection reports, photographic evidence, and as‑built records.
What you will bring:
You will bring proven experience inspecting civils works within fibre rollout or wider telecoms network build projects, along with strong knowledge of fibre duct and chamber construction standards and a solid understanding of NRSWA and reinstatement requirements. You should be able to interpret fibre build drawings and schematics and hold a full UK driving licence. It will also be beneficial if you bring NRSWA Supervisor accreditation, experience working on FTTP or FTTx programmes, and familiarity with Openreach, AltNet, or other major fibre provider environments. Additional strengths such as SA006 Safe Working in Civils certification, SSSTS or a similar safety qualification, ISO9001 internal auditing capability, or broader quality management training will further enhance your suitability for this role.
