The role
Different Dog is entering an exciting and critical phase of growth. We are evolving our brand, refining our proposition, and scaling customer acquisition across new and existing channels. This role exists to drive the next step change in growth. This is not a caretaker role. We are looking for someone who is motivated to take real ownership of growth during a pivotal period for the business. The mandate is to drive acquisition, improve retention, and continuously optimise the full customer journey. You will work closely with the Chief Growth Officer and partner deeply with the Brand & Creative team to ensure media, creative and proposition work together to drive sustainable growth. This role requires someone who can think holistically about growth strategy while remaining highly hands-on in execution and optimisation.

We are a team of passionate dog lovers who believe that nutrition matters, and our recipes are built on proven science, with support from our in-house vet and nutritionist. Having seen behind the curtain of the processed pet food industry, we decided to do everything differently. We are a subscription-based B Corp™ delivering hand-cooked, healthy food to over 20,000 UK dogs; our nutritional rating and customer reviews speak for themselves.
Key responsibilities
- Growth strategy & performance ownership
- Own and drive the overall growth engine across acquisition, retention and conversion
- Work closely with the Chief Growth Officer to shape growth priorities, experimentation roadmap and channel mix
- Identify opportunities to unlock step-change growth across the customer journey
- Ensure marketing investment is allocated effectively based on performance and testing insights
- Customer acquisition
- Own performance across all acquisition channels, including:
- Online channels: Meta, Google, YouTube and TikTok
- Influencers and creator partnerships
- Events and direct Marketing (DMs, Door Drops, etc.)
- Emerging channels and growth partnerships
- Responsibilities include:
- Media planning for both online and offline channels
- Channel performance and budget optimisation
- Identifying and scaling new acquisition channels
- Driving continuous testing and learning across media and creative
- Customer retention & lifecycle
- Lead retention strategy across the customer lifecycle
- Oversee CRM programmes, including email and lifecycle communications
- Identify opportunities to improve customer lifetime value and reduce churn
- Identify and deliver on X-sell opportunities (add-ons)
- Work closely with Customer Delight and product teams to ensure insights feed back into retention initiatives
- Creative effectiveness
- Creative performance is a core growth lever. This role owns the creative effectiveness process, ensuring a strong feedback loop between media performance and creative development. Responsibilities include:
- Defining and running the creative testing framework
- Providing performance insights to guide creative development
- Partnering closely with the Brand & Creative team to improve creative impact
- Managing the performance creative agency
- Conversion optimisation & landing pages
- Own optimisation of landing pages and pre-signup conversion journeys
- Work closely with the Tech team on CRO initiatives across the signup flow
- Define testing roadmap for messaging, structure, offers and landing page experience
- Team leadership & cross-functional collaboration
- You will lead a team:
- Lead and develop the growth team
- Manage agency partners across performance channels
- Ensure clear priorities, accountability and pace of execution
- You will work closely with:
- Brand & Creative team on campaigns and creative effectiveness
- Tech team on CRO, tracking and landing page optimisation
- Customer Delight team on retention insights and lifecycle improvements
- Experience
- Proven track record of driving meaningful growth in a D2C or subscription business
- Demonstrated ability to scale customer acquisition efficiently
- Experience building and running high-performance growth engines, combining media, creative testing, CRO and lifecycle marketing
- Track record of identifying and unlocking step-change opportunities, not just incremental optimisation
