Diesta is building the next-generation payment processor for the global insurance industry. We are a fast-growing start‑up solving complex data challenges for top‑tier insurers and brokers across the UK, EU, and soon the US. Our platform transforms how insurance payments are managed, making them faster, smarter, and more transparent.

The Role

We are looking for an Implementation Engineer to lead client onboarding, data integration, and end‑to‑end delivery of our platform. This is a hybrid role combining client‑facing consulting, data engineering, and solution design. You will work directly with insurers and brokers to understand their data, processes, and payment flows, often in more detail than they do themselves, and translate that into a robust, scalable solution on the Diesta platform. You will own onboarding projects from discovery to go‑live, build ingestion and reconciliation workflows tailored to each client, and work cross‑functionally with Product and Engineering to refine and improve the overall onboarding experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Discovery & Requirements: Lead technical discovery sessions with clients to map out data sources, payment flows, and reconciliation processes. Uncover edge cases, undocumented logic, and operational nuances. Translate business and operational requirements into clear technical specifications.
  • Data Analysis & Integration: Analyse complex client datasets (Excel, CSV, PDFs, bank feeds) and identify required transformations. Design and implement data mappings, validation checks, and ingestion workflows. Convert messy or inconsistent data into clean formats aligned with the Diesta schema.
  • Solution Design & Delivery: Architect and configure client‑specific ingestion, matching, and reconciliation rules. Build proof‑of‑concept integrations to demonstrate platform value early in onboarding. Execute full implementation cycles, including testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
  • Client Communication & Success: Serve as the main technical point of contact throughout onboarding. Provide clear explanations to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Build trust with clients by delivering reliable, well‑structured solutions.
  • Platform & Process Improvement: Identify common onboarding patterns and contribute to reusable templates and tooling. Collaborate with Product and Engineering to enhance platform capabilities. Help streamline and standardise the onboarding process across clients.

What We’re Looking For

Core Skills:

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand complex operational workflows.
  • Experience working with data formats such as CSV, Excel, SQL databases, and APIs.
  • Proficiency in SQL (MySQL preferred) and scripting languages like Python.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve data quality, transformation, and mapping issues.
  • Comfortable leading client discussions and extracting requirements from ambiguity.

Nice‑to‑Haves:

  • Background in fintech, insurance, reconciliation, or payments.
  • Experience in implementation engineering, solutions engineering, or technical consulting.
  • Familiarity with AWS, ETL pipelines, fuzzy matching logic, or financial data models.
  • High ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently.
  • Comfortable in fast‑moving, unstructured startup environments.
  • Curious, pragmatic problem solver with strong attention to detail.

Within the first 30 days:

  • Gain a deep understanding of Diesta’s platform, data models, and reconciliation logic.
  • Shadow client onboarding sessions and begin analysing example client files.
  • Deliver a small proof‑of‑concept ingestion or mapping task.

Within the first 60 days:

  • Own end‑to‑end onboarding tasks with support from senior team members.
  • Lead your first client discovery call, capturing requirements and data structures.
  • Build and test ingestion workflows, normalisation logic, and validation checks.

Within the first 90 days:

  • Take ownership of a full onboarding workstream from discovery to implementation.
  • Proactively identify improvements to onboarding processes and platform capabilities.
  • Become a trusted contributor to client‑facing delivery and internal engineering discussions.

Join a mission‑driven team addressing real pain points in insurance finance. Be part of a lean, high‑performing team with direct impact on product and client outcomes. Work with top insurers and brokers in an industry ripe for disruption. A culture of high trust, low ego: we value competence, commitment, and transparency. Hybrid work model with a central London office (Bank / Liverpool Street). Regular team lunches and international offsites. State‑of‑the‑art technical equipment. 22 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays).

Interview Process:

  • Intro Call with our Chief of Staff to explore your background and aspirations.
  • Technical Interview with the Data Lead.
  • Onsite Workshop at our London office, collaborate with the team and experience our culture first‑hand.
