The Senior Supplier Management Specialist is responsible for managing external suppliers and ensuring they consistently deliver against agreed commercial and operational commitments. The role focuses on monitoring supplier performance, comparing contracted service levels with actual delivery, and ensuring issues are identified, addressed, and improved over time. A key part of the role is turning performance insights into action through structured governance, driving accountability and continuous improvement across the supplier base.
The role works closely with Procurement, Finance, and Supply Chain throughout the full supplier lifecycle, including RFPs, SOWs, and contract negotiations. It also includes responsibility for critical peak operational periods, including the annual Zero Lane program in Q4. This requires ensuring full supplier readiness and coordinating the supply chain to deliver uninterrupted service across all UK retail environments, where strict zero-downtime requirements must be met. During this period, the Supplier Manager provides enhanced operational oversight and acts as the primary escalation point for supplier-related issues, ensuring rapid resolution of incidents and continuity of service under high-pressure conditions.
Responsibilities- Support partner onboarding, governance, and operational setup activities during Business-as-Usual (BAU) Zero Lane periods in Q4, including providing coverage both during and outside standard working hours.
- Attend supplier sites regularly to participate in formal governance and performance review meetings.
- Manage larger, high-value, and more complex supplier relationships.
- Ensure suppliers are paid correctly, validate invoices, and challenge or resolve incorrect charges and billing disputes.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, support process improvements, and enhance supplier performance.
- Perform regular supplier performance reviews (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly).
- Analyse supplier data including customer rates, quality, attrition, communication scores, and churn.
- Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective and gap-closing action plans with suppliers.
- Ensure execution, tracking, and effectiveness of agreed actions.
- Support coordination of training activities, quality initiatives, and calibration sessions.
- Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum 4-6 years of relevant experience in Supplier Management or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Copilot.
- Strong business English (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel frequently.
