Didcot Railway Centre is a living railway museum and heritage attraction, welcoming thousands of visitors each year. With a working railway, historic locomotives, museum exhibitions, café, shop and regular events, we provide memorable experiences for families, enthusiasts and community groups.
We are looking for a creative, organised and commercially aware Marketing Executive to take ownership of our marketing activity and help grow visitor numbers, event attendance and brand visibility. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy and working in a unique heritage environment.
The Role
As Marketing Executive, you will manage and deliver all day-to-day marketing activity across digital and print channels. Working closely with the senior team, you will plan, create, implement and monitor campaigns that drive engagement and revenue. This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident working independently in a small team.
Key Responsibilities
- Digital Marketing & Social Media
- Manage all social media platforms (planning, content creation, scheduling and engagement).
- Film, photograph and edit content for social media campaigns.
- Develop creative campaigns to promote events, seasonal activities and visitor experiences.
- Monitor analytics and report on performance, growth and ROI.
- Manage paid social advertising and Google Ads campaigns, including budget control and optimisation.
- Oversee SEO performance and implement improvements where appropriate.
- Email Marketing & Database Management
- Plan, write and design engaging email campaigns and newsletters.
- Manage audience segmentation and mailing lists.
- Maintain and update CRM/database records.
- Track open rates, conversions and campaign effectiveness.
- Website & Content
- Update and maintain the website (including event pages, news and visitor information).
- Ensure content is accurate, engaging and SEO-optimised.
- Write copy for campaigns, blogs, promotional materials and press releases.
- Design & Print
- Create marketing collateral including posters, flyers, signage and digital assets using Canva or similar tools.
- Manage print production and liaise with external suppliers.
- Ensure brand consistency across all materials.
- Budget & Reporting
- Manage and monitor the marketing budget effectively.
- Track and analyse campaign performance across all channels.
- Provide regular reports with insights and recommendations.
- Ensure marketing activity aligns with visitor targets and commercial goals.
Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Previous experience in a Marketing Executive or Marketing Assistant role.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing tools.
- Experience managing Google Ads and paid social campaigns.
- Confident copywriter with excellent proofreading skills.
- Experience using email marketing platforms and CRM systems.
- Ability to analyse campaign performance and demonstrate ROI.
- Experience updating websites (WordPress or similar CMS).
- Proficient in Canva or similar design software.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Desirable
- Experience in a visitor attraction, heritage site, tourism or leisure environment.
- Basic photography or videography skills.
- Knowledge of SEO best practice.
- Experience managing marketing budgets independently.
