Our client is looking for a proactive and technically strong Health & Safety Compliance Manager to lead, influence, and embed a positive safety culture across their site in Walkden. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, company policies, and industry best practice. You’ll act as the site’s technical authority on H&S, supporting operational teams, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring all activities are carried out safely, responsibly, and legally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Statutory Compliance, Systems & Documentation
    • Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements
    • Maintain and develop H&S management systems, policies, and procedures
    • Lead audits, inspections, and reviews, ensuring actions are tracked and closed
  • Fire & Emergency Management
    • Lead fire safety management across the site
    • Conduct and review fire risk assessments
    • Manage emergency planning, drills, and response procedures
  • Incident Management & Investigation
    • Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and non-conformances
    • Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions
    • Report findings and trends to senior stakeholders
  • Equipment, Training & Competence
    • Oversee statutory inspections and compliance of equipment and plant
    • Ensure appropriate H&S training is delivered and maintained
    • Coach, mentor, and support managers and teams to raise safety awareness
  • Culture & Continuous Improvement
    • Promote a strong, positive safety culture across all levels of the business
    • Act as a trusted advisor to operational teams and leadership
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risk and improve performance

Person Specification

  • Essential Qualifications
    • NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent)
    • Level 3 Fire Risk Assessment / Fire Safety Management qualification
  • Experience & Skills
    • Proven experience in a Health & Safety compliance or management role
    • Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation
    • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
    • Highly organised, proactive, and detail-focused
    • Comfortable acting as the site’s technical specialist and point of escalation
