Our client is looking for a proactive and technically strong Health & Safety Compliance Manager to lead, influence, and embed a positive safety culture across their site in Walkden. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, company policies, and industry best practice. You’ll act as the site’s technical authority on H&S, supporting operational teams, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring all activities are carried out safely, responsibly, and legally.
Key Responsibilities
- Statutory Compliance, Systems & Documentation
- Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements
- Maintain and develop H&S management systems, policies, and procedures
- Lead audits, inspections, and reviews, ensuring actions are tracked and closed
- Fire & Emergency Management
- Lead fire safety management across the site
- Conduct and review fire risk assessments
- Manage emergency planning, drills, and response procedures
- Incident Management & Investigation
- Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, and non-conformances
- Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions
- Report findings and trends to senior stakeholders
- Equipment, Training & Competence
- Oversee statutory inspections and compliance of equipment and plant
- Ensure appropriate H&S training is delivered and maintained
- Coach, mentor, and support managers and teams to raise safety awareness
- Culture & Continuous Improvement
- Promote a strong, positive safety culture across all levels of the business
- Act as a trusted advisor to operational teams and leadership
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risk and improve performance
Person Specification
- Essential Qualifications
- NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Level 3 Fire Risk Assessment / Fire Safety Management qualification
- Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety compliance or management role
- Strong working knowledge of UK H&S legislation
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
- Highly organised, proactive, and detail-focused
- Comfortable acting as the site’s technical specialist and point of escalation
