Our client is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Compliance Manager to lead and develop Health & Safety standards across multiple operational sites in Manchester. This is a strategic, hands-on role focused on driving a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, overseeing audits and investigations, and supporting continuous improvement across the business. The successful candidate will work closely with operational management teams and NEBOSH-qualified Depot Managers, providing expert guidance, compliance oversight, and support with Health & Safety management systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote Health & Safety compliance across the organisation
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Review risk assessments, COSHH, and safe systems of work
  • Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation and industry standards
  • Support ISO audits and continuous improvement activities
  • Deliver training, toolbox talks, and Health & Safety guidance
  • Produce reports, KPI data, and compliance updates for senior management

Requirements

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety management role
  • Background within waste, recycling, logistics, transport, manufacturing, or other high-risk environments
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation
  • Experience with audits, investigations, and compliance systems
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

  • CMIOSH or working towards
  • Experience within waste or recycling operations
  • Knowledge of ISO management systems
