About the Role: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Consumer Sales & Strategy Manager to play a key role in shaping the growth, strategy and sustainability of a consumer hardware business unit. This role is responsible for driving long-term profitability, developing and executing sales and strategic initiatives, identifying and pursuing new growth opportunities, managing strong vendor and customer relationships, and supporting team performance and engagement.
What you will do in the role:
- Engage and onboard new retail partners
- Develop a long term, sustainable strategy with each vendor and retail partner
- Recruit, motivate, develop, mentor and retain key staff across the business unit – take ownership of performance and growth plan
- Ensure all staff are operating in accordance with the objectives set for the unit and are meeting the financial milestones set out for the business
- Maintain regular contact with senior leadership team for feedback, assistance with execution of strategy, reporting and general support
- Identify and implement sales, process, operations and systems improvements. Where possible automate the process
- Negotiate retailer contracts and ensure all documents are saved in an accessible location for all internal parties to view
- Manage vendor and customer relationships, negotiate strategy and support to maximise brand profitability, oversee vendor marketing and rebate programmes
- Manage stock flow through the warehouse in seasonal spikes to accommodate both vendor and customer requirements and SLAs
- Recruit new agencies based on “Best of Breed” policy
- Represent Dicker Data at all Vendor QBRs and vendor/customer events
- Look for ways to increase or add-value for Dicker Data, the customer and the vendor
- Display good business sense and judgement in all dealings
- Ensure all relevant training is offered and attended by the right team members
- Credit management - ensure all retail claims, rebates and marketing claims are up to date and Account Managers are on top of their account ledgers
- Manage third party arrangements for staffing including: hiring, contract management, HR, Comms. management, budget tracking throughout the course of the contract period
Success in this role will be measured against the following outcomes:
- Achievement of sales and gross margin budgets for the Consumer BU
- Demonstrated leadership through the coaching, development and performance uplift of team members
- Effective expense and travel cost management
- Vendor and customer performance/satisfaction
- Long term sustainability and profitability of the business unit
- Drive culture through events and business unit meetings
- Stocks levels as approved by management
Skills And Experiences What You will need to Succeed in the Role:
- Minimum of 8-10 years successful Consumer Electronic industry experience, with at least 5 years’ people management experience.
- Demonstrates strong leadership, fostering team cohesion, mutual respect, and collaboration, while taking ownership of team performance.
- Team player with the ability to gain buy-in & commitment from a range of internal stakeholders
- Ability to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customer needs.
- Strong collaboration mindset to transfer knowledge to others to communicate core issues/challenges, gain understanding and develop solutions.
- Ability to quickly develop understanding of a wide range of products and technologies.
- Proactive and motivated to generate new ideas, identify opportunities, create value, and deliver plans that support company success.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Solid understanding of financial fundamentals such as gross margin, gross profit, return ratios, etc.
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration or in any related field.
