Job Goal
Supervise and monitor students assigned to the In-School Reassignment Program.
Qualifications
- Must have completed at least 2 years of study (48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education; or obtained an associate’s degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality as determined by a formal assessment (Mississippi
Test: ACT Work Keys – Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics and Writing Subtests).
- In accordance with Mississippi Code S37-9‑17, all personnel employed by the public‑school system must pass a criminal background check and a current child abuse registry check.
- A satisfactory employment record.
Essential Functions
- Participate in the district and school professional development programs.
- Comply with all district policies and procedures.
- Model good reading, writing, and speaking skills for students.
- Monitor and guide all assignments, provide encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests and computer work, and provide instructional assistance as appropriate.
- Report to a certified teacher when an assignment misunderstanding is detected for immediate re‑teaching/reinforcing purposes.
- Provide escort and assistance to students as necessary, including but not limited to cafeteria, restroom, water fountain, and playground.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as expected of a fully licensed teacher.
- Reinforce school rules and learning environment; acknowledge and encourage appropriate behavior and distinguish inappropriate behavior for students’ understanding.
- Work with students and staff during reflection periods on behavior management and prevention of undesirable behaviors that led to ISR assignment.
- Manage multi‑age and multi‑grade students in one setting.
- Collect, analyze, track, report, maintain, and disseminate behavioral progress and other reports as directed by supervisor.
- Follow best practices for behavioral interventions and other topics to develop skills and establish effective relationships with students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Additional Duties
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Building Principal, Superintendent, and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Terms of Employment
184 days annually with salary in accordance with the Administrative Salary Schedule approved by the Harrison County School District.
Evaluation
Performance of the In‑School Reassignment Monitor will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies and Procedures.
Travel Requirements
Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
